The Beginning (#3)

November 28th, 2011 David started his new job. About two years ago we had found a job that we wanted for him. It was a corporate company that would offer retirement, benefits and security that we wanted. Finally the company had posted a ad on a employment website and he applied. He got the job and found out the starting pay was $2 hour more than he was currently making, full health insurance coverage, life insurance and a match dollar for dollar retirement plan. The job was such a blessing from God and we knew it!!!

November 30th, 2011-I was at work and David just happened to get off early that day and was helping out. I got back to my desk and picked up my phone and noticied that I not only had a missed call, but a email. The missed call was from our social worker. So I looked at the email and in the subject line read the words: "Potential Birthmother". I read the email which stated that there was a potential birthmother at a maternity home in Baton Rouge and that we would need to put together a profile book for her to look over and choose from. As I sat in my chair, I became speechless. I couldn't breath. I got up to find David. As I walked towards him, tears fell from my eyes and I said "this is it, this is her".

I found David and told him that I had just received a missed phone call and email from Ashley and that there was a potential birthmom at the maternity home. I will never forget his words of, "Come on now, that was suppose to happen next week." I quickly called her back and she told me about the birthmom. That she was due at the end of January 2012 and that she wanted to place her baby up for adoption. She said she needed a profile book asap so the birthmom to look over. We had one question, boy or girl. She said Girl. I told her we were all in and that I would get her a profile book asap.

David and I smiled and took a deep breath and decieded that we needed to put the profile book together the next day.

I was off the next day and I decieded to tell Melissa, which normally we don't usually tell people. She offered to help make the profile book and made plans to come over that night to help. I went to a craft store to get the book that our potential birthmother would see. I need to explain the stress that you feel just picking out the book. What color does she like? What color does she hate? How big should the book be? How much should you put in the book? What color paper? Should I use stickers? Should I use stamps? How do I pick out a book that someone else will use just that information in the book to deceide if we would be a good fit to potentially become her child's parents. Talk about STRESSFUL!!! After texting David and Melissa some options, I made my choices and checked out. As I was walking out of the store, I looked up and said "Okay God, your going to have to give me someone here that has done this exact thing before that can walk with me on this. I need help God!"

That night Melissa came over and helped me get it done. I loved it, I was very happy and felt good about it. The next morning David and I edited a few things and we said it was done. I went to work and I had to print out a few birthmom letters that David and I wrote. I had to update the letters that we had written years ago. As I was working on it, my new co-worker asked was what wrong becuase I had seemed stressed. As I snapped my answer back about how stressful it was and what I was doing, he said "I know exactly how you feel" when I looked at him puzzled, he said "you know we adopted our daughter five years ago that it's so stressful making that book." I wanted to hug him and fall on my knees praising God beause He provdided me someone that had been where I was. He answered my prayers, AGAIN! He looked over everything and helped make a few grammer changes and it was done.

I felt good about it and at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon, I dropped it off. Our profile book was done and now it was 100% in God's hands!
